Shipping Tips
|
If your horse is being shipped across state lines they will require a negative Coggins test and a veterinary provided Health Certificate. Many people like to send blankets, shipping boots and leg wraps for their horses. Sending them is fine for the most part, but putting them on the horse often creates more problems. If you put shipping boots on the horse for a long trip, often they begin to slip after time and the horse kicks to remove them. This can create an injury and upsets the horses at the very least. If you ship the horse with a blanket on., and they are alone in the trailer in the winter this might be a good idea. If they are in a trailer with other horses, the trailer will get warm and having the horses cool is better then too warm. We request that you have a good halter and lead rope to go with your horse. If you want them to have special feed that is fine, prepare the portions and put it in indvidual bags with feeding insturctions. If you want to send your own feed, let the driver know the feeding instructions. Yosemite Equine Services provides either alfalfa or a grass alfalfa combination depending on the request of the shipper. Online Reference Available for Equine Import Requirements for Each State |
